Another mass shooting hit the headlines today. This time it was 14 children in an elementary school. An elementary school…
Something is not working. I don’t care what party you support or what news channel you think airs the truth. This violence has hit an insane frequency. Something has to change.
If we just do our little “thoughts and prayers” dance and hope it will get better, it won’t. It won’t.
I don’t have any answers but I can say that the environment that we’ve allowed to exist has got to change if we’re truly tired of hearing about people getting murdered in what are supposed to be safe places: schools, grocery stores, churches.
How many more of our fellow humans will it take dying before we are spurned to try to affect change in some way? How many have to be murdered in cold blood before our “leaders” are willing to talk. Kick the lobbyists and special interests out of the room, shut off the social networks, forget about popularity points, and talk as humans who are trying to protect those whom they were elected to represent.
Something tells me that promises of prayers will be uttered and political talking points will be regurgitated with a look of sadness. Then we’ll just move onto who won the primaries so that we can continue to divide ourselves because of two little letters: D and R. I am so disgusted with this version of American politics and am ready for an upgrade. I feel like we’re in the Windows ME stage of our country’s timeline.
In the mean time, I have to wonder how many days until the next heartbreaking headline?
